Your dog isn’t just a pet! They’re your best buddy. They just get you. And you’d do anything for them, including pet coaching.

If you’ve had a dog for a while, or you’re a newer pet owner, you probably want what’s best for your companion. And while maybe you’ve had their best interests at heart, they may have learned some bad habits—or never learned the good ones—and now you need a little bit of help to get your pets back on track and to reach your goals.

That’s where TaskHuman can help! When we recognize that our important relationships include those with our four-legged friends, we want to make sure we’re giving our pets the training they need. Luckily, TaskHuman has pet coaching available on the app.

Here’s some basic information you’ll need to know to get started.

1. Common Pet Coaching Questions

When it comes to questions about pets, TaskHuman advisors have probably heard it all. But there are some issues that tend to pop up more frequently than others. Things like:

  • Leash manners
  • Reactivity (responding to stimuli like other dogs, new people, sounds, etc. in ways that aren’t in their best interest)
  • Food issues are all common-place.

But perhaps the most common question is “what pet best fits their lifestyle?” Coach Liz Hager has some advice.

Knowing your own or your family’s personality, lifestyle, and abilities is the first step toward having a productive and positive relationship with your pet.

2. Training Is a Process

Sure, we might understand that when we say “Off” to our dog, we mean off of the bed, the couch, all of the people…but our dog doesn’t. And for them to learn what we mean is going to take time.

Expecting quick results will leave you discouraged and frustrated. And since our dogs can sense our emotions, they’re going to feel that way too.

Since the best training results come from the dog having fun and positive reinforcement, one of the best ways to improve your dog’s behavior is to start small.

Coach Gina Merlini wants you to take baby steps with your training expectations:

3. In It For Love

Just like most things worth doing, TaskHuman Pet Coaches are in it for love. While they may not be able to hear words of praise from the dogs, seeing the health and behavior benefits in both the pets and the people fill them with joy.

Coach Stephanie Krol shares a story that shows how powerful coaching can be:

And while not every pet needs help recovering from black mold, most pets—and owners—can use some adjustments to their practices. And, as Coach Jennifer Workman explains, a little bit can go a long way:

If you’re ready to improve your bond with your pet, decrease negative behaviors, and help your dog feel useful and fulfilled, schedule a 1:1 coaching session with one of our advisors today. And pretty soon, you’ll be saying, “You’re such a good dog!”
