TaskHuman Talks: How To Commit To Your Boundaries In 2025
“One of the biggest obstacles we have is ourselves.”
With the New Year fresh in our minds, it’s the perfect time to set intentions for how we want to adjust and adapt things moving forward. In this TaskHuman Talks Podcast episode, coaches Jamie Carroll and Beth Frye discuss all things boundary-setting personally and professionally, and offer tips for achieving harmony rooted in self-care.
Defining & Identifying Boundaries
Coach Beth encourages using boundary-setting as a powerful approach to intentionality. When reflecting on what to set boundaries around, consider what brings you the most joy – in all facets of your well-being – and start by pinpointing one thing that isn’t serving you anymore.
Challenges With Boundary-Setting
It’s normal for boundary-setting to feel overwhelming sometimes. We might think, “What if these limitations interfere with my joy?” “Will this boundary affect my relationships negatively?” or “What will the outcome be?” Overcoming these challenges comes back to self-awareness. Get comfortable acknowledging and normalizing these fears, and recognize your attachments to see the bigger picture. This process doesn’t have to be scary, it can be positive! Learn more from Coach Beth about approaching boundary-setting through this lens.
Boundaries & Work-Life Integration
Coach Beth is a big proponent of creating harmony between work and life, a process that requires giving yourself grace and getting comfortable with being vulnerable. To simplify setting boundaries in this area, she encourages this process:
-
Identify the things that are hard, and reflect on why
-
Figure out how to ease the load of your biggest challenges
-
Communicate what you need (to yourself)
-
Build the courage to implement your boundaries or limits
Sustaining Boundaries Long-Term
The goal of effective boundaries is to create sustainable and long-lasting behavior change. This requires commitment, resilience, and checking in with yourself regularly. “Is this boundary working?” “Do I need to pivot, revisit, or emphasize it again?” It’s OK to dream big! Ultimately, boundaries need to make sense for your life and be attainable, much like setting goals.
