2. Risks of a Plant-Based Diet
Not surprisingly, for people to reap the benefits of a plant-based diet, they need to eat the right plants.
That can be difficult to do. And the risks of not doing so can be great.
Medical News Today reports that eating unhealthy plant-based foods, such as sweets and refined grains, can actually increase the risk of heart disease.
It is important to remember that although something could be labeled as “vegan,” such as vegan chips or vegan cookies, doesn’t mean that they are “healthy” and free to be eaten in large quantities.
Going plant-based can be done safely, but consider consulting with a medical professional to make sure you’re implementing the diet correctly to maximize the benefits and reduce the risks.
If you do decide to try a plant-based diet, there are ways to ease the transition from animal products to their plant-based counterparts.
3. Meatless “Meat”
Perhaps obviously, meat is one of the most common foods people miss when they adopt a plant-based diet.
Vegan aficionados will tell you there are many vegetables that can give you the same “meaty” sensation, but you still may need support in getting there.
Enter meatless meat.
Made from a variety of plant-proteins, the new vegan meats are much closer in taste and texture to actual meat.

4. Dairy-Free Milk
Dairy-free milk has come a long way from the lonely soy or almond milks of a few years ago.
Now there is a large variety of other types: oat, hemp, pea, and several others are pushing toward center-stage.
The nutritional value of each is as different as their taste, which means you can find some better for cooking and drinking, depending on your preference.
