Confluent Leadership Principle #1: People Matter
The foundation of any effort is getting the right people, with the right skills, organized in the right way. As a leader, the foundation of your contribution to the company, and the single biggest contributor to your success is the quality of the team you help build.
The best leaders are tireless in building their teams:

They are continually working to hire impossibly great people.

They are finding ways to help everyone on their team do the best work of their career by coaching, training, motivating, and matching them to the areas where they can have the most impact.

They are always thinking about opportunities to help the most promising talent they have take on more and advance (even if that means finding them opportunities outside their team).

They provide prompt feedback and actively manage-out underperformance.

They continually invest in building strong, high-trust relationships throughout their team and with key partners.

They help reinforce Confluent’s culture and create an environment that is energetic, collaborative, fun, and fair.
Confluent is, after all, first and foremost, a group of people. Our ability to do great things starts with making that group great.
